邓少强,南开大学数学科学学院教授、博士生导师,国家级教学名师,享受政府特贴专家,教育部数学专业教学指导委员会委员,入选教育部优秀青年教师资助计划和新世纪优秀人才支持计划,获宝钢优秀教师奖,全国高校自然科学二等奖(第一完成人),天津市教学名师奖,天津市五一劳动奖章等多个奖项。主要从事李群与微分几何的研究,在Adv. Math., Crelle's Journal, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc.等重要期刊发表论文100余篇SCI论文,2012年由Springer出版社纽约分社出版的独撰专著《Homogeneous Finsler Spaces》列入著名数学专著系列Springer Monographs in Mathematics中。主持国家自然科学基金重点项目、面上项目,教育部博士点基金项目。
讲座简介:
The homogeneity conjecture was first proposed by J. A. Wolf in 1962, which states that, given a discontinuous group G of fixed point free isometries of a connected Riemannian manifold M, such that the quotient map from M to G\M is locally isometric, the induced metric on M'=G\M is homogeneous if and only if each element in G is a CW-translation on M. In this talk, we outline recent progress in the study of the homogeneity conjecture. In particular, we construct a counterexample to show that the homogeneity conjecture is not true in general.
